Could optimising sleep be the key to improving performance & maximising potential?

To maximise performance, a company will usually invest in training programs, coaching & leadership development. But, if even partial sleep deprivation (<7 hours per night) results in impaired decision-making, reduced strategic thinking & poor concentration, then even the greatest training or coaching programs will not be able to offset that effect.

We’re so focussed on the output (action, behaviour, strategy), that we’re not considering the input (sleep, among others). Where would the investment really shift the dial?

Nearly half (48%) of Australian adults report at least two sleep-related problems. It’s an incredibly pervasive problem that’s been normalised because largely the stress & demands of modern life are not conducive to sleeping well.

To improve sleep, we need to reduce stress. It’s a simple equation. This doesn’t mean working less or taking leave, there are extremely effective tools for reducing stress & improving sleep which can very easily be implemented, with no other lifestyle changes required.

Vedic Meditation has been shown to give the body rest that is deeper than the deepest point of sleep (measured by drop in the rate of oxygen consumption), and to effectively reduce stress. Practitioners commonly report sleeping better after introducing the practice, as well as increased clarity, energy & reduced stress symptoms.

By improving sleep with Vedic Meditation (and its closely-related cognitive impairment cousin, stress), we trigger a natural boost in cognitive capability, accurate decision making under pressure & strategic thinking. The key factors for an optimised performance.

It’s time for a paradigm shift in how we invest in unlocking our full performance and potential, individually and in professional settings.
