The Wound is where the Light Enters You

- Rumi

It's the arc of your storyline which is the sculpting of you, and the inspiration to others who are facing difficulties.  The person who was happy, stayed happy and ended up happy is not inspiring to anyone.  Nor does it make for a good story.

It's the beautiful, exquisitely painful moments of life which trigger the most growth and transformation.  The ones which make us reach deep within for courage, strength and endurance we didn't know we had.  Until we're tested, we really don't know what our capacity is.  And in doing so, we stretch our capacity.  We gain a greater sense of compassion and empathy, our heart expands, for ourselves and for others.  We rise, we rise again, and we become wise.  Thinking about an experience is not the same as having the experience.  The learning and growth which can come are immeasurable.  I often say that cancer, depression and divorce have been my greatest gifts, and they've certainly been some of my greatest teachers.

Learning to surrender is a profound gift and to learn that powerfully and deeply, sometimes we must be faced with a situation that provides no other option but to surrender - to surrender to, and find deep acceptance for - what is happening, for the flow of life.  To be with it rather than to resist it.  To have the opportunity to realise a greater intelligence working through us and the pattern of our lives, the arc of our storyline.  With this can come access to your deeper nature, a deep sense of ease and contentment which lies below the surface, beyond the suffering.  Unless the surface gets rough and rocky, we may never be caused to look for, or to find, that deeper bliss within.  The wound creates a desire to search for that deeper bliss, to find the light which shines within, deep below the surface level of life, which shines like a thousand suns.

Embrace the storyline, which is uniquely yours, and know that it's only ever taking you towards something better, a more integrated version of you, and a higher, more blissful experience of, and an ultimate merging with, the flow of life.

Much love
